Please see below information sessions available.  The sessions are via zoom and provide the opportunity to learn more about the topic, with a Q&A discussion at the end. 

Our Family Support Information Service is run entirely on donations and grants to ensure we can continue to provide a free service, any donations or contributions would be very much appreciated, even £1 goes a long way!

About Autism

This workshop is for parents and carers to look at various perspectives of autism to help raise awareness and increase knowledge. It includes social communication and interaction, sensory processing, behaviour, meltdowns and anxiety.

This workshop is for parents and carers to look at what anxiety is, what happens to the brain and body, causes of anxiety, mental health and anxiety, autism related anxiety, strategies and managing anxiety for your child.

Autism and Behaviour in Children

This workshop is for parents and carers and looks at types of behaviour, functions of behaviour, triggers of behaviour, challenging behaviour, how autism can have an impact on your child’s behaviour, managing challenging behaviours and strategies.

Completing DLA Forms for Children

This workshop is for parents and carers to explain what Disability Living Allowance is, who can apply, how to apply and tips on applying. It also goes through the DLA form page by page to offer you guidance.

Autism, School and Education

This workshop is for parents and carers and looks at some of the main school issues, school avoidance, transitions, exclusions, bullying, anxiety in school, ways of learning, meeting preparation, support available, what the law says, EHCPs and home education.

Autism and Sensory Difficulties in Children

This workshop is for parents and carers and looks at ways autistic children and young people have difficulties processing sensory information. It looks at autism and the senses, the seven sensory systems, sensory assessments, sensory diets, sensory circuits and sensory strategies.

Workshop aimed at Autistic adults and their networks to understand why someone maybe diagnosed, looking at the DSM5 criteria and what this means in real life.  Some of the theories around autism, the common misconceptions and what we can do to help each other in a neurotypical society.  The workshop is free to attend but Family information service is self-funded and costs £250 a day to run donations would help us continue our support.

Coping Ideas

Professionals Autism Workshop

Aimed at people who want to learn more about autism and how to look at daily approaches to help people in a neurotypical world.  We look at how people get their diagnosis, how sensory can impact in coping.  Common misconception around autism and how practice can change to be inclusive.
